Purpose of the Role
This Project Engineer position will be mainly focused on the introduction of the core commercial vehicle safety and efficiency product range. The candidate will need basic knowledge of the product technologies & introduction and project management.
The role is based in the Research & Development and Technology Department, responsible for upgrades and product introduction, development & verification of the product portfolio.
This position will be predominantly at product level, requiring good understanding of defining and managing requirements, supporting product development, verification and validation. The role requires the application of technologies and engineering methods keeping the product portfolio competitive and up to date, whilst enhancing its cost effectiveness. The successful candidate will also be required to support the Programmes and Product Support department in adapting current products for specific customer demands.
The role will be primarily supplier-facing, managing multiple suppliers and manufacturers in both high and low-cost countries, overcoming cultural and language barriers to deliver new product in time for market. The position also extends to supporting our customers as needed.
The applicant will ideally have knowledge of automotive technology including standards and quality controls which are key to ensuring product quality standards are met, however on-the-job induction and training will be provided.
The ideal candidate will be required to have a proactive approach delivering products into the market in line with business needs and customer & supplier relations.

• Lead and manage product introduction throughout the product lifecycle

Education & Training

• HND in Engineering or Science or alternative educational background combined with solid professional experience
• 5-6 GCSE's at Grade C or above including Maths, Science (Physics) and English
• High level of numeracy and literacy
• Above average computer literacy

Experience & Skills
Essential

• 3 years Industry practical experience engineering or technical field (mandatory)
• Able to demonstrate co-ordination skills
• Attention to detail is critical
• Knowledge of product introduction and product life cycle.
• Computer application skills: Microsoft 365 Suite & Standard desktop applications

Desirable

• 3 years' experience in Electronics Engineering
• Knowledge of electronics
• Interest in modern technology, automotive or electronics industry
• CAD development tools
